Posted on Jun 24, 2014 by in Job Perf / Prof Dev |

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 states:

“No person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”

Welcome to the HCC Office of Equity and Diversity’s online training module for Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. All college programs and activities are protected by Title VI. This Act prohibits denial of access to college courses, programs and other educational opportunities. Title VI also protects against harassment and barriers to education for English learners. Hillsborough Community College is committed to creating a diverse learning environment which benefits us individually and collectively as a community.

Training Module Objectives:

  • Clearly outline the parameters of Title VI.
  • Raise awareness of the Title VI issues currently faced on college campuses.
  • Educate college employees to recognize when a Title VI violation may occur and how to take immediate and appropriate action.
